Wells Drive Closing Announcement

July 31, 2009

Work will begin on the South Arrival Experience project on August 12, 2009. The first phase of the project will require that Wells Drive be closed to through traffic. Notification of the Wells Drive closure will begin Monday, August 3, 2009. Signage boards that will be progressively updated will be positioned at the intersection of Hampton & Wells, and Tamm & Wells.

New Golf Course and Driving Range featured in STLtoday.com

The wait is over. If you live in the city, practicing on your golf game just got easier. The Highlands at Forest Park’s driving range opened this week. Formerly known as Triple A, its hours will be 10 a.m. till about 7-7:30 p.m. seven days a week, until the electricity is run for the lighting, said Doug Barnhouse, director of golf at Norman K. What’s Happening in the Park? - Cottonwood Removal

Today, the Forest Park Arborists Crew (FPAC) removed a large Cottonwood tree that blew down into the River System. The tree was located next to a bridge on Lagoon west of the Dennis & Judith Jones Visitor and Education Center.

What’s Happening in the Park? - Murphy Lake

July 8, 2009

Thanks to our horticulturalist staff, two new renovations have been made to the Murphy Lake area.
The Old beach that was on the Southwestern edge of Murphy Lake has been refurbished with Grey Trap Rock.

A new stone path was installed on the Southwest side of Murphy Lake to replace the old mud path.  Two tons of Chilton Flagstone were set in place and leveled off.  The stone has a number of different colors within it that are brought out by the surrounding landscape.

Repairs Near the Union and Lindell Intersection Due to a Water Main Break

July 2, 2009
A water main break occurred near the intersection of Union and Lindell, on the far west side of Murphy Lake. The Water Department and the Metropolitan St. Louis Sewer District are currently working on repairing it. 7-2-09-001s
