Roadtrip with a Raindrop: 90 Days Along the Mississippi River

In 2007, photographer Gayle Harper discovered the Great River Road, a National Scenic Byway that follows the entire course of the Mississippi River, and learned a raindrop falling into the headwaters of the Mississippi travels for 90 days to reach the Gulf of Mexico. In 2010, she made a 90-day road trip while keeping pace with an imaginary raindrop called “Serendipity.” Harper details this trip in over 150 full-color photographs and 54 vignettes.

This lecture and book signing by the artist is free and open to the public. The event will take place in the Museum's Lee Auditorium.
