Women's Committee

In September 1990, 200 women met at the home of Mary and Leon Strauss to hear Elizabeth Barlow Rogers discuss the restoration of Central Park in New York and to hear about plans for restoring Forest Park. The spark was ignited. The listeners were inspired. The result was the formation of a group — now numbering more than 500 — called The Women’s Committee of Forest Park Forever, dedicated to raising funds to support specially designated projects in Forest Park.

Each year, the Women’s Committee of Forest Park Forever hosts the popular Hat Luncheon. This event is an extraordinary opportunity for Women’s Committee members and guests to celebrate many years of memories in one of St. Louis’ most iconic places — Forest Park!

Wonderland Tea Party Committee

A diverse planning committee of both kids and adults launched the Wonderland Tea Party in 2008. This event engages both the young and the young at heart with its goal to provide upkeep for special places like the Variety Wonderland Playground on the grounds of the Dennis & Judith Jones Visitor and Education Center.

The playground is one of the best loved areas of Forest Park. This fully accessible, all-inclusive playground has become an important stop for families and educators throughout the region. Featuring 29 pieces of equipment, the playground allows children to naturally learn about diversity, disabilities and acceptance through playtime.

The Wonderland Tea Party includes crafts, entertainment, kid-approved snacks (including a Chocolate Fountain!), a Silent Action, plenty of play time, and more.

We are no longer looking for volunteers to join the Wonderland Tea Party Committee for 2016. Stay tuned for future opportunities!
