Tributes and Memorials | Forest Park Forever

Looking for that special gift for a birthday, anniversary, graduation, wedding, retirement, Mother’s Day, Father’s Day or just to say thank you or I’m thinking of you? A tribute is a thoughtful and meaningful way to recognize those who have touched our lives. Help us continue our mission of preserving the natural beauty of the Park, strengthening the future of Forest Park and continuing the joy for friends, like you, who take pride in keeping Forest Park, forever. Tributes are tax deductible and can be made in any amount by completing and returning the attached form. The recipient, or their family, will receive a personalized card informing them a gift has been made in their name, who has made the gift, and special sentiment you might like to include. Donors will receive a letter thanking them for their donation. A tree, brick or bench tribute is a special way to express yourself in a tangible and lasting way, providing a source of pride for your children and grandchildren for years to come.

BRICKS

The renovation of Government Hill, including Kerth Fountain and the reflecting pool, makes it one of Forest Park’s most treasured places for play and relaxation. The Member Paver Plaza, located at the base of the reflecting pool, is a wonderful way to remember your family and friends or share a special memory. With a donation of $300, you will receive a 4” x 8” brick paver. Your inscription can be up to 3 lines, with 15 characters per line (including spacing & punctuation). With a $2,000 donation, you will receive an 8” x 8” personalized paver with an inscription of up to 6 lines. Pavers purchased in the current calendar year will be installed the following spring.

TREES

A tribute tree is an enduring, living tribute. The Tree Master Plan recommends a diversity of tree species be planted throughout the Park to provide for a balanced ecosystem. Trees are planted according to the Plan and are approximately 2” in diameter. Tribute requests received January-June are dedicated in the fall; those received July-December are dedicated the following spring. Recipients, or their families, of a tribute tree receive a gift card announcing that a tree will be dedicated in their honor or memory. Once the tree is dedicated, they will receive a certificate and map showing the location of the tree. Trees are marked with a temporary tag stating the tree type, donor and honoree. After approximately six months, the tags are removed to allow the tree to grow without restrictions. Tribute trees are $150, which provides for complete care for the life of the tree.

BENCHES

Benches are strategically placed throughout Forest Park along pathways and scenic vistas offering respite and relaxation to Park visitors. An engraved plaque is placed on each bench with your sentiment and message. Inscriptions can be up to 4 lines of text, with 40 characters per line (including spacing and punctuation). Bench tributes are $10,000, providing for perpetual care of your bench.
