The 21st anniversary of the Hiram W. Leffingwell Luncheon is June 2, 2011 and with it we are reminded that the leadership shown by Women’s Committee members continues to be vital to Forest Park. You can help us accomplish our mission: to restore, maintain and sustain Forest Park as one of America’s great urban public parks for the enjoyment of all – now and forever. That’s a big task, especially when you consider that Forest Park attracts upwards of 12 million visitors a year, more than Yellowstone and the Grand Canyon combined!
The day Forest Park was dedicated in 1876, Chauncey Shultz encouraged citizens to “keep on the grass” and we have ever since. We continue to witness people making the most of simple, affordable pleasures, like spending time with family and friends in Forest Park. A well maintained Forest Park enhances the health and well-being of our citizens, improves our children’s ability to learn, provides a warm welcome for visitors worldwide and attracts important economic development within our region – now we need you to help keep it up.
Please consider becoming a 2010 Women’s Committee member by visiting our JOIN ONLINE page and entering: WC_online in the code field. Your tax deductible membership supports strategic goal implementation including the development of park-wide event coordination, improved signage and the completion and maintenance of the dual path system.
We hope you will enjoy this year’s Park-friendly membership benefits including the bookmark with seeds you can plant and a roll-up fleece blanket. Our new benefits are sure to help you enjoy your favorite place in the Park, whether you’re at an event, picnicking with friends or reading a book by a brook.
