Learning Lab Classroom of the Dennis and Judith Jones Visitor & Education Center
Pruning has long term consequences for a tree’s health and shape and should not be undertaken lightly. Pruning can make or break a tree. The Oak you just planted in your yard could be there for 200 years to come if it receives the proper care and pruning, or it could be dead in 2 months if it doesn’t. Pruning requires not only an understanding of tree biology, different species’ growth habits and how trees respond to wounding, but also the right tools and the ability to use them correctly. In this class we’ll cover all of these basics and show you how to guide your trees into a long and healthy life!
