From Our Backyard to Yours – Indoor Classes With Experts from Forest Park Forever

Trees provide shade in summer and beauty throughout the year, but for home gardeners, growing anything from turf grass to perennial flowers underneath shade trees can be a challenge.  Patrick Greenwald, Forest Park Forever Horticulturist for the Grand Basin and Boathouse zone, will be instructing this class on Creating a Woodland Garden. Topics covered in this program will include: proper planting site selection, woodland garden design, soil preparation, best woodland garden perennials, shrubs and understory trees for Missouri, plant establishment care and maintenance, deer control, and evergreen care and winterization. With the proper knowledge, tools, and a little preparation work, you too can successfully turn your shaded backyard into a beautiful place to relax and delight in nature.

All classes are held in the Learning Lab Classroom of the Dennis and Judith Jones Visitor & Education Center. Free and open to the public!

To register, please email FPF Education Coordinator Jean Turney at Space is limited, so please register early.
