Known as one of St. Louis’ great migrating passerine hotspots, Forest Park also provides a home to many other bird species that breed or overwinter in Missouri. Join us on our walk outdoors as we find birds together in various areas in Forest Park’s Nature Reserve.   

Bird walks will meet at the Dennis and Judith Jones Visitor and Education Center in Forest Park unless otherwise noted. 

  • All ages and birding levels are welcome

Take an in-depth look at our local woodpecker population including adaptations, anatomy, behavior, and more. American Crows, prevalent across much of the continent, are distinguished by their large, all-black features and cawing voices. Come and explore the world of this exceptional bird, including discussion of the problem solving tactics they display as the interact with their habitat. Learn about food sources, nesting, and other interesting facts. Other local corvids (Blue Jays and Fish Crows) will be included in the discussion.
