Forest Park Forever’s 27th Annual Forest Restoration Day
Fall is the ideal time for tree planting in our region and Forest Restoration Day is our conservancy’s biggest public volunteer opportunity.

Date: Saturday, November 7, 2026
Time: 9:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m.
Who is it for? This Park project day is appropriate for individuals, small volunteer groups, and families with children 10 and older. Children under the age of 18 must be supervised by an adult at all times.
What we’re doing: Forest Park experts have selected appropriate trees for reforestation planting in Kennedy Forest.
What should you wear? Volunteers should bring work gloves and wear weatherappropriate attire that you don’t mind getting dirty, including long pants, long sleeves and sturdy closed-toe shoes with socks. This required attire reduces the risk of injury and minimizes exposure to poison ivy.
What will Forest Park Forever provide? Beverages, snacks and an assortment of gloves, shovels and required safety equipment. Volunteers may bring their own work gloves.

A Long-Term Restoration Story
The annual restoration day was initiated by volunteers from the Kennedy Forest Advisory Group (KWAG) in the 1990s. Our nonprofit conservancy grew the annual one-day volunteer effort into a highly successful event that supports habitat across Forest Park's Nature Reserve.

In 2025, more than 200 volunteers helped our staff replant 883 trees across 22.6 acres of Forest Park’s Nature Reserve. Find a full recap and a list of the native trees we planted in our 2025 blog.
